Getting the ball rolling!

So, here we are, "without a home", we debated whether to wait a bit, a year, maybe two to see if the market would cool as they say. The funny thing is that I actually believed that i had the patience to sit and wait. It was a bit like a game of chicken between my husband and I. Neither one of us wanted to admit to the other that we were spending every free moment looking for that perfect house, you know, THAT house.... the perfect gem, priced well, great location, park, huge lot  and of course "cheap" , affordable. Who were we kidding , this house didn't exist and the market wasn't just going to level off because we hoped it would.

The hunt was on!!! We looked at many houses, I realized that you really have gut instincts when it comes to this stuff. We found one, beautiful street, close to family, house could be reno-ed to what  I envisioned . Would have to compromise a bit on design ( ME COMPROMISE ON DESIGN???? WHAT WAS I THINKING)  but my , our, feelings were good. Lets put an offer. We are totally green at this stuff. Well, it was a disappointing mess, bidding war, cars parked out side the house, realtors walking in an out of the house, we went way over asking but the dark "emotional"side of NEEDING that specific house takes over and logic goes to the window.

This exact scenario played out 4 times, by the 4th time we were talking stupid numbers, way over budget, I was willing to compromise on everything at this point............I think my grandmother was up watching over me shaking her head with disappointment and blocking every sale.

We regrouped, picked up the pieces ( wasn't that dramatic actually) and started looking again but this time casually.  Two weeks go by and nothing, it was late in the summer, house popped up on my email. I think i subscribed to every possible online MLS search possible. It looked alright , it was priced right on budget, my husband tony went to look at it. I went to take a quick look, house was a small bungalow, it could be modified to make it square ( I'm obsessed with square floor plans ). second floor added easily. Then the yard..... this house was on a ravine, there is a small creek that runs at the base of this ravine, all you see are trees..... oh yeah it has a pool!!!

I refused to get excited,.... turns out owner was willing to take the offer that day, we threw it out there without a second though. Its kinda funny the way the mind works, the questions start...."why isn't she holding back for a biding war?" why aren't people lined up to see it?? WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT???? 8pm i get the call that we got the house. Well, i wish i could say I was happy, but I was more in panic mode!

I truly believe things happen for a reason...... this house was meant to be ours
